St. Mary's Boy's JV Basketball

January 25, 2010

The St. Mary’s JV basketball team has had a pretty good start to their season. So far they have had three games. The first game was against Archbishop Spalding, the second game was against Mt. Saint Joes, and the third game was against Glen Elg County.

The game against Archbishop Spalding was a close one. The score was almost tied at the half. Then at the end of the game they somehow pulled off the win and made the score 38 for St. Mary’s and 37 for Archbishop Spalding. The team was the (1-0).

After that, the team practiced hard to keep their record undefeated, but they had a hard competitor, Mt. Saint Joes. The saints tried their best but could not pull it off. In the end the Saints lost to Mt. Saint Joes 60 to 35. The team was now (1-1).

Mike Stehle, one of the teams shooting guards said,” The reason we lost was because we didn’t work together. We need to work as a team. It looks like next week we are going to have to practice hard to get ready for Glen Elg County.”

The Saints next game was against Glen Elg County. The game was close throughout the first half. It was hard to tell who would win, but in the second half the Saints were ready to play. They worked as a team for the rest of the game and pulled off the win. The final score was St. Mary’s 53 and Glen Elg County 35. The team was now (2-1). Bradley Beard, one of the teams forwards said,” We came to win it.

We knew all that weeks hard practices would pay off. Now we have to do the same thing next week to get ready for Severna Park.” Today the Saints play Severna Park and hope that all of their hard work will make them (3-1)!
